2026 Primary Special Election Schedule
July 6-8:
Candidate filing period (8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at the election secretary’s office).
July 10:
Challenge to candidacy ends at 5 p.m.
July 13th:
Drawing for position on the ballot (1:30 p.m. at the election secretary’s office).
Candidates may pick up printouts or flash drive.
July 13th:
Last day to submit photo & biography to “Chickasaw Times” (by 4 p.m.)
Press release for candidates (news/media).
July 23rd:
Ballots mailed to voters who reside out of the contiguous 48 states.
Aug 4th:
Voter registration closes at noon.
Aug 5th:
After noon, candidates may pick up updated printouts or flash drive.
Aug 6th:
Ballots mailed to ALL qualified voters.
Aug 20th:
Last day to appoint a watcher.
Aug 25th:
2026 Primary Special Election (last day to return ballots; no later than 10:30 a.m.).
Ballot tabulation begins at noon.
Unofficial results posted immediately.
Press release made to public.
Aug 25th:
Voter registration reopens, if no run-off election.
Aug 28th:
Recount period ends.
Aug 31st:
Oath of Office for Legislator Elect.
2026 Run-off Special Election Schedule (If Needed)
August 31st:
Candidates may pick up printouts or flash drive. (after noon).
Sept 3rd:
Ballots mailed to ALL qualified voters.
Sept 17th:
Last day to appoint a watcher for the run-off election.
Sept 22nd:
2026 Run-Off Special Election (last day to return ballots; no later than 10:30 a.m.)
Ballott tabulation begins 11 a.m.
Unofficial results posted immediately.
Press release made to public.
Voter registration reopens.
Sept 25th:
Recount period ends.
October 1st:
Oath of Office Ceremony (11 a.m.)
