About the Community

The community of Ada is centrally located in the Chickasaw Nation. With six great school districts, East Central University, Pontotoc Technology Center, popular restaurants, and numerous cultural and arts events, Ada has a small-city feel without the traffic and hectic pace of a metroplex.

Ada is a progressive, quality-driven community, located in the rolling hills of southern Oklahoma. Imbued with ingenuity, a pioneering spirit and hospitality, Ada has been described as a place where the West meets the South. Incorporated in 1901, it now has a population of more than 17,000. Ada is located within easy driving distance of Ardmore, Shawnee and Pauls Valley, Oklahoma City and Dallas, Texas, and is a Main Street City and a Tree City USA member. Ada is large enough to offer many bigger city amenities, such as a four-year university and a thriving business climate, yet still small enough to provide a safe and fun place to raise a family.

Ada is home to a world-class EPA water laboratory. Ada is birthplace to the state’s first native-born governor and longtime U.S. Sen. Robert S. Kerr and evangelist Oral Roberts. Local headliners include country music star Blake Shelton, NFL player Jeremy Shockey and Miss Oklahoma 2009 Taylor Treat.

The Chickasaw Nation has an active employee culture. We participate in and volunteer hundreds of hours for local and national charities, initiatives and events. We encourage healthy lifestyles by providing wellness events, programs and activities. We continuously work to enhance the lives of Chickasaw citizens, Oklahomans and the communities in which we live.
