Message from the Program Director
Chokma!
Hello, and welcome to the Chickasaw Nation Pharmacy Residency Program webpages!
Here you will find a truly unique residency experience. As the only Indian Health Service (IHS)-linked program which participates in the PhORCAS match, we offer an unmatched blend of integration between federal/tribal healthcare and American Society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP)-accredited instructional programming. Our differences are not just in structure, but in focus. The mission statement of the Chickasaw Nation, “To enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw People,” drives every member of our team each day. It is a mission with a simple meaning: to better all those around us. That includes you.
The Chickasaw Nation encompasses 13 counties in south-central Oklahoma and has one of the fastest growing tribal healthcare systems in the nation. Pharmacy is the central generator of this expansion and our outreach continues to grow as pharmacists play crucial roles in administration, billing, commerce, decentralized integration, clinical disease state management and inpatient and outpatient distributive settings. We have an exciting and dynamic program, one poised for continued growth and requiring empathic and engaged clinically-minded pharmacists practicing at the top of their licensure. We are blessed with tremendous resources to enhance your learning experience, but it is our people, the preceptors you will find in these pages, that you will value the most.
As a resident of the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health, Pharmacy, you will be a learner, a colleague, a team member and a friend, while our preceptors guide you on your journey of development into a caring and compassionate healer. If you are intrigued, it is because you are seeking something unique after pharmacy school. Contact us and come by for a visit to let us show you how healthcare can be practiced with true connection and empathy – I promise you will not be disappointed.
