SULPHUR, Okla. — The Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Cooper Memorial Drive, will observe Earth Day during regular business hours April 21 to 25. During this exciting weeklong event, the Chickasaw Cultural Center will host educational activities and presentations on recycling, water conservation and composting.

Daily themes and activities

Stomp dance demonstrations will take place daily at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Chikasha Inchokka' Traditional Village

Tuesday, April 21

“Tune into Nature Tuesday”

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Nature journaling activity, iNaturalist information table and demonstrations

Noon — Ithana: The Learn and Lunch Series with speaker Newakis Weber, Chickasaw Nation Director of Natural Resources

Wednesday, April 22

“Wetland Wednesday”

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Horticulture team booth: wetland ecology and cultural importance of local species

Thursday, April 23

“Delightful Decomposers Thursday”

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Vermicomposting information table by Chickasaw Cultural Center horticulture team

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – “Hot Composting at Home” workshop

Friday, April 24

“Following the Monarch Friday”

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Native plant giveaway

1 p.m. — “Mighty Monarch” presentation with speaker Micah Stover, Chickasaw Nation Horticulture and Conservation Educator

Saturday, April 25

 “Protecting Our Pollinator Pals”

10 a.m. to noon — “Gardening for Pollinators” workshop

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Native plant giveaway and “Butterfly Bingo and Trivia” activity
