Toksali SMART Program

Creating a SMART Workforce, the Toksali (to work) SMART (Successful Mindsets with Attitude and Readiness for Tomorrow) program provides workforce training and experience to youth ages 14 to 21. Students are encouraged to develop productive work patterns and behaviors in real-world environments. Innovative partnerships with a variety of community resources provide youth with meaningful job experiences, strengthening the community workforce.

Experiences may include job shadowing, mentoring, leadership opportunities, job training and more.

Paid training sessions are provided throughout the month of June. Attendance is required.

Worksites are located both within the Chickasaw Nation and local communities.

You Provide

  • Tribal citizenship card
  • CDIB/tribal letter
  • Social Security card
  • Driver’s license, photo ID or photo
  • Letter of acknowledgement from Selective Service or signed request form to receive number from Selective Service (male applicants, ages 18 and older)
  • Achievement test scores or most recent report card or transcript, high school diploma, GED Certification, etc.
  • Verification of residence (rent receipts, utility bills, etc.)
  • Income verification (check stubs, benefit letters, etc., for the last six months) for all household members ages 18 and older
  • If no income, a non-income statement must be completed for every person in the household 18 years of age and over.
  • Completed OKCIS Interest Profiler Assessment (call your area office for log-in information)
  • Completed Toksali Smart Application
  • Completed I-9 (Tax Form Instructions)
  • Summer Youth Verification form
  • Agreement/Consent Form


  • Must be between the ages of 14 and 21 by June 1
  • Must reside within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries
  • Must be a member of a federally recognized Native American tribe
