In the Chickasaw language, lowak sho'li means “to carry the fire.” This program hopes to keep the flame and desire Chickasaw people have for the arts and humanities alive as it passes from one generation to the next.

Program Details

The Lowak Sho’li Humanities Forum has been hosted annually since 2012 to encourage First American youth and college students to pursue a career in arts and humanities while providing an opportunity for open dialogue with the community about the importance of First American representation in arts and humanities professions.

This year’s takes place 6 p.m., Nov. 18, at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center in Ada, Oklahoma. Featuring panelists include: Dr. John Krueger, Dr. Brandon Postoak, Dr. Judy Goforth and Dr. Jesicah Gilmore. Moderated by Ethan Cox.
