Chickasaw citizens can earn trade certifications through classroom, workshop and on-the-job training opportunities. Chickasaw Institute of Technology offers employment preparation for in-demand careers.
There is no financial cost associated with the program, and participants are eligible for compensation while training.
Each program consists of 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with workshop and classroom hours taking place at the Chickasaw Institute of Technology.

Electrician Program
Classes provide skills and knowledge to enter career training in electrical apprenticeships.
Students are required to complete classroom, workshop and on-the-job training hours in this full-time, 12-month career training program.

Students complete more than 2,000 hours of apprenticeship and are registered with state of Oklahoma once requirements of the course are met.
HVAC Program
Students are introduced to the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry and trained in:
- HVAC/R: safety, tools and equipment
- Piping and piping practices
- Principles of thermo-dynamics and heat transfer
- Refrigeration components and lubricants
- Refrigerant recovery and retrofit
- Electricity for HVAC/R
- HVAC/R controls, electronics and motors
- Heating systems
- Air conditioning systems
- Indoor air quality
- Heat pumps systems
- HVAC/R codes, regulations and standards
- Load calculations

- HVAC/R system servicing and troubleshooting

During this 12-month, full-time career training program, students are required to complete classroom, workshop and on-the-job training hours. Students will be registered as apprentices with the state of Oklahoma once requirements of the course are met.
This class may count for one of three years required for the Mechanical Journeyman’s License Apprenticeship. Students in the HVAC program are eligible to test for a limited residential installer license after 250 classroom hours.
Construction Technology Certificate
Prepare for employment in residential and commercial construction trades or a career in general building contracting or residential building inspection.
Courses focus on residential carpentry and construction skills and knowledge development. Students are required to complete classroom, workshop and on-the-job training hours in this full-time, 12-month career training program.

Applied Business Technology
Learn administrative procedures and gain skills and knowledge to enhance office efficiency and model professionalism in the workplace.
The program includes on-the-job training, classroom instruction, online instruction and real-life job experience. Coursework focuses on the development of fundamental administrative skills needed for working in a professional office environment.

This six-month program provides instruction for 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with computer lab hours taking place at the Carl Albert Service Center, 1001 N. Country Club Road, Ada, Oklahoma 74820.
Plumbing Certification Course
The Chickasaw Institute of Technology offers a three-semester program to train Chickasaw citizens in the plumbing field. There is no financial cost associated with the program, and participants are eligible for compensation while training. The plumbing trade is one of the highest in-demand technical trade careers.
The training includes:
- 1,050+ hours over fall, spring and summer semesters
- Coursework with on-the-job training during fall and spring semesters
- 100% on-the-job training during the summer semester
Successful completion of all program requirements is required for graduation and certificate of completion. Semesters are taken sequentially over a 12-month period of time.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program
Students complete practical, hands-on training to become a certified nurse assistant/aide in Oklahoma. Classroom instruction and on-the-job training are included in this 14-week program.
The program includes:
- Two weeks of modules and skills training
- 59 hours of curriculum instruction
- 16 hours of supervised practical training
- 12 weeks of on-the-job training
Hands-on skills include:
- How to take and record temperature, pulse and respiration
- Required techniques in personal hygiene and grooming
- Identifying normal range of motion and positioning
- Safe patient transfer techniques and ambulation
- Supervision or assistance in activities of daily living
- Behavior management identification of signs and symptoms of disease
Students also receive enhanced competency and skills training in a simulated hospital floor with experienced nursing staff from the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center (CNMC).
