Program Details

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is comprised of a multidisciplinary care structure that ensures the highest level of care and attention. The ICU nurses and providers are proud to partner with our in-house divisions including: surgical services, cardiology, podiatry, obstetrics and pediatrics, to safely and effectively treat our citizens. Our nurses and providers are knowledgeable in the latest lifesaving treatments and interventions to stabilize and treat patients in an environment rich in Chickasaw culture and care.

Our teams work closely with our in-house respiratory therapy to ensure all respiratory concerns are dealt with in a safe and consistent manner. Evidence-based care models based on algorithms from the American Heart Association courses including Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. We also treat in tandem with fellow providers from specialty areas of care.

We are excited to announce that we are beginning a new initiative to send our nurses to training to receive the newest and most effective intensive care knowledge. The Critical Care Registered Nurse training will allow our ICU to better serve the intensive care needs of our Native people.

Other Information

Note for visitors- Patients in our intensive care unit are classified in “critical” condition. For this purpose, we ask that the following guidelines be observed:

  • Visitation is limited to two visitors at a time. This is to limit stimulation to the patient in this sensitive care time. There may also be times we limit visitation for various care and safety reasons. Please check in at the ICU entrance before visiting.
  • Visitors must be 15 years or older. To ensure the safety of all visitors and patients we do not allow visitors under the age of 15.
  • If visitation has been limited, please wait in the waiting area. The nurse who is in charge of the patient will notify visitors following the procedure.
  • Visiting hours are from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Out of town visitors are encouraged to speak with the charge nurse to see if accommodations are available in our Chikasha House, a lodging facility for patients’ families or caregivers.
  • Fresh flowers are not allowed in patient rooms. Foil balloons are more than welcome in the rooms, but for allergen concerns prohibit fresh flowers.
