Program Details

Program Details

The Chickasaw Nation STEM Academy programs are offered for a variety of ages and skill levels, engaging students through hands-on learning activities, problem solving and team building. Students in the program apply real-world math and science concepts to design, build and program robots and complete real-world challenges.

LEGO Lab

Students in grades 3-4 explore the basics of robotics using LEGO kits, learning how to design, build and code their creations to perform simple tasks.

VEX(ES)

In this elementary version of our middle school VEX program, participants in grades 5-6 develop problem-solving and teamwork skills while navigating obstacle courses and completing challenges with VEX robots. No experience is required. This program introduces basic coding concepts and builds on foundational engineering concepts and design.

VEX

This intermediate robotics league introduces both beginner and advanced robotics programs to builders in grades 7-8 through easy-to-build components and programming. The program applies engineering, design and coding principles. Teams travel to competitions across the state.

FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC)

In this introductory engineering design challenge, teams of students in grades 9-10 develop their ideas into reality throughout a competition season. Students are introduced to industry-level hardware, software, manufacturing and learn associated. This program expands on knowledge of engineering principles, design and coding concepts. Teams participate in competitions across the state.

FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC)

This high-intensity engineering challenge for grades 11-12 focuses on teamwork and innovation. Operating under strict guidelines and a short build period, teams design and build a 120-pound competition robot to compete against other teams across the country. Students develop industry-level skills, time management and overcome obstacles. One year of experience in FTC is required unless a student is entering the 12th grade. The FRC program  continues to apply and build on advanced engineering principles, design and coding concepts. Teams compete across the nation.

Robotics Day Camps are available every summer. Applications must be submitted by April 15. For more information, visit Chickasaw.net/YouthCamps.
