Program Overview

A wide variety of higher education grants, scholarships and incentives are available to eligible Chickasaw college students each term/semester.

Who Can Apply

  • Chickasaw citizens
  • Chickasaw Nation residents or Chickasaws at-large

Application Dates

  • Spring: Dec. 1-Feb. 15
  • Summer: May 1-July 1
  • Fall: July 1-Sept. 15

College Readiness Support

AP Exam / CLEP Reimbursement
Assists with exam costPer exam

Reimburses the cost of AP exams (once per subject) and CLEP exams (with proof of passing score). Requests must be made within six months of payment.

ACT/SAT Reimbursement
Assists with ACT/SAT feesFrequency based on grade level

Assists with ACT/SAT fees once annually for freshmen/sophomores multiple times for juniors/seniors. Must submit receipts and submit an application within six months.

ACT Prep Workshop
Reimbursement or voucherOne-time

Student may request reimbursement for ACT/SAT exam preparation, or vouchers for the Cargill ACT Prep workshop, which helps build proficiency and comfort with the ACT.

Scholarships for Academic Achievement

General Scholarship
Amount based on course load and GPAPer term/semester

Additional funding for students earning a term/semester GPA of 3.0 or higher. Award ranges from $250-$500 depending on GPA and course load.

Governor's, Lt. Governor's and Legislators' Scholarships
$350-$500One-time

Fall term/semester only. One-time awards for incoming college freshmen with high school GPAs of 3.85 or higher. Amounts range from $350 to $500 based on GPA.

Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes Johnson-O'Malley (JOM) Scholarship
$300One-time

Fall term/semester only. A one-time, $300 award for one male and one female college freshman who attended a public school with a Johnson O’Malley program. Requires a letter of recommendation and a 500-word essay.

Digital Learning Reimbursement
Reimburses up to $800One-time

Reimburses students who buy essential technology for digital learning environments, like a laptop. Available once in an academic career.

Digital Learning Gift Card

Provides a gift card for students to purchase essential technology for digital learning environments, like a laptop. Available once in an academic career.

Digital Learning Laptop

A laptop is shipped to eligible students to encourage success in a digital learning environment. Available once in an academic career.

Textbook Reimbursement
Amount based on school course loadOnce per term/semester

Provides up to $250 (part-time) or $500 (full-time) per term/semester for textbooks or required academic software. Delivered via reimbursement. Best if you already purchased your textbooks for the term/semester.

Textbook Gift Card

Provides up to $250 (part-time) or $500 (full-time) per term/semester for textbooks or required academic software. Delivered via prepaid Visa card. Best if you have not purchased your textbooks yet.

Higher Education Grant
Amount based on school course load and school typePer term/semester

Assists with tuition costs for Chickasaw students enrolled in an accredited college or university. Award amounts vary by institution type and credit hours. Requires a 2.0 GPA minimum.

Fee Assistance Grant
Amount based on course load and school typePer term/semester

Assists with mandatory college or university fees. Awards range from $150–$800 depending on school type and credits. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least three credit hours.

Graduation Support and Awards

College Graduation Assistance
Up to $150One-time per degree

Reimburses up to $150 for expenses like caps, gowns, photos or announcements. One-time per degree, must apply within six months of graduation.

Chikasha Holitoplichi – Graduation Stole Program
Chickasaw Stole providedOne-time per degree

Chickasaw students who earn an associate degree or higher at an accredited college or university may be eligible to receive a graduation stole. Application for the graduation stole must be made at the beginning of the final semester.

Degree Completion Incentive
$1,000One-time per degree

$1,000 award for students who complete a bachelor’s degree or higher. Must apply within six months of graduation and be in good standing.

Native American Business Scholars Academy, Oklahoma City University
Full tuitionOne-time

Offers full tuition for Chickasaw students earning a business degree at OCU, plus access to internships, business seminars and networking opportunities.

Holisso Pisachi Education Scholarship, East Central University (ECU)
Full tuition and feesOne-time

Provides full tuition, fees, and housing for Chickasaw students pursuing an education degree at ECU, with part-time work in the Chickasaw Nation Department of Education.

Abeka Apisachi Nursing Scholarship, East Central University (ECU)
Full tuition and feesOne-time

Covers full tuition, fees, and housing for Chickasaw nursing students at ECU, with part-time work in the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health.

Professional Certification Exam Assistance

License and Certification Fee Assistance
Up to $500One-time per certification

Covers up to $500 per exam for qualifying professional certifications like the GRE, LSAT or teaching exams. Reimbursement only and available for one award per certification. Submit receipt within six months of payment.

  • Chickasaw Nation Residents Chickasaws At‑Large
    This program provides a non-reloadable $450 Visa gift card for full-time and part-time college students per academic level classification. The grant must be used for clothing purchases only.
  • Chickasaw Nation Residents Chickasaws At‑Large
    The Chickasaw Nation Career and Technical Education (CTE) Assistance Program is available to part-time and full-time Chickasaw students attending a state or nationally accredited career technology center, trade school or private licensed training facility, whereby graduating students receive a professional certification or license upon completion of their program. In addition to certification programs, funding may be considered on a case-by-case basis for advanced or graduate certifications at college and universities, bridge programs, continuing education, license renewal coursework and other career advancement opportunities that may not lead to a traditional certification. Eligibility is not income-based, and applicants are not required to live within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation to qualify for this program.
  • Chickasaw Nation Residents Chickasaws At‑Large
    The student support program provides general financial assistance for college and career technology students to help overcome barriers related to postsecondary education opportunities.
  • Chickasaw Nation Residents Chickasaws At‑Large
    The Chickasaw Nation Recruitment and Retention program prepares, supports and empowers Chickasaw college students for success with on-campus resources at nine colleges in Oklahoma. Participants must be Chickasaw citizens enrolled at the East Central University, Mid-America Christian University, Murray State College, Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, Rose State College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, University of Central Oklahoma, and University of Oklahoma.
  • Chickasaw Nation Residents Chickasaws At‑Large
    This program provides high-quality tutoring services to students in a content specific, one-on-one virtual environment. Applicants must be Chickasaw students in grades K-12 enrolled in a public, charter or accredited private school or postsecondary students enrolled in a nationally-accredited public, private or online college or university. Homeschool students may also apply.
