Direct Service to Public Schools

This program provides schools the opportunity to apply for teacher in-services and workshops, Johnson-O’Malley art clubs, after-school arts enrichment, mini-festivals and instruction in First American art forms.

Applicants must be a public-school staff member.

Program Details

Direct service is provided to public schools through the direct service application process.

Schools may apply to receive the following services:

Teacher in-services and workshops - Arts Integration, assessment and other resources and lesson plans provided to public schools through a presentation workshop.
Johnson O’Malley art clubs - Monthly art club facilitation with an art instructor. Must have a school teacher commitment to oversee and have supplies ready.
After school arts enrichment - Art classes furnished to schools beginning with 3rd grade with art workshop opportunity.
Mini-festivals - To educate students grades 3 – 6 while they are engaged in the creation of cultural art forms, language learning and storytelling presentations through a rotation model with a festival-like atmosphere. The mini-festivals promote preservation of Chickasaw and other Southeastern and Woodland tribal cultures and provides opportunities for older students in leadership classes to become teaching assistants and mentors to their younger classmates.
American Indian art forms - Students grades 3 – 12 are exposed to arts integration through hands-on projects to learn about the American Indian culture through a fine arts technique. Addresses cross-curriculum activities and learning.
