In the Chickasaw language, lowak sho'li means “to carry the fire.” The Chickasaw Nation Arts & Humanities Division hopes to keep the flame or desire Chickasaw people have for the arts and humanities alive as it passes from one generation to the next. The Lowak Sho’li Humanities Forum has been hosted annually since 2012 to encourage First American youth and college students to pursue a career in arts and humanities while providing an opportunity for open dialogue with the community about the importance of First American representation in arts and humanities professions.

The 2022 forum will take place Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center, 830 E. Main St., Ada, Oklahoma. The forum will also be offered live via Zoom webinar. Attendees can register for the in-person or virtual event by clicking HERE. For more information, please email CreativeArts@Chickasaw.net or call (580) 272-5520.
