Program Details

Anolí is a Chickasaw word that means “story.” All submitted works must be original. Poetry and short story entries will be judged on artistic form and creativity. Essay entries will be judged on how well contestants respond to the prompt. Winners will receive cash prizes.

  • Division I: grades 6-8
  • Division II: grades 9-12
  • Division III: adults 18 and older

Categories (one entry per category):

  • Poetry (64 lines or less)
  • Short story (1,000-2,000 words)
  • Essay (1,000 words or less)
    • Essay must respond to one of these prompts
      • What Chickasaw person has influenced you the most and how?
      • Why is it important for Chickasaw people to represent their culture through writing?
