Eligibility
  • Must be a Chickasaw citizen ages 18 or older
  • Must be physically able to work in hot or cold environments and perform tasks such as kneeling, digging and carrying loads up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to travel to Ada, Oklahoma, or Tupelo, Mississippi

  • Completed Consent and Participant Code of Conduct forms
  • Completed application
  • Documentation of Chickasaw Nation citizenship
  • For Chickasaw Nation employees: documentation of employer/supervisory release from work for the program week

Program Details

Chickasaw citizens can embark on a one-week journey to the historic Chickasaw Homeland in Mississippi hosted by the Chickasaw Archaeological Survey Program (CASPR).

Participants will conduct archaeological fieldwork like pedestrian surveys, controlled surface collections and test unit excavations. They will also be immersed in Chickasaw history through a cultural tour of historic Homeland sites.

This opportunity includes travel expenses from Ada, Oklahoma, to Tupelo, Mississippi, lodging and meals.
