Where do I send my application?
You can submit your application and required documents to
ChickasawFarms@Chickasaw.net or bring them with you when you come to pick up your package. Documents must be submitted prior to sod installation on new construction homes.

What documentation is required?
We need a copy of your citizenship card, a utility bill with physical address and proof of homeownership (declaration page from homeowner’s insurance policy, county assessor’s page, mortgage documents, etc.). We cannot accept warranty deeds.

Who is eligible to have their sod installed?
Chickasaw homeowners with newly constructed homes located within the Chickasaw Nation who have not already picked up sod will receive 8,400 square feet of sod installed.

How often can I receive a landscaping package?
Once the initial package is received, you are eligible for a supplemental package every other year.

What does the initial package consist of?
Three trees, six shrubs, three grasses and 12 flowers.

One tree, two shrubs, two grasses and six flowers.

When/where can I pick up my landscape package?
You may pick up your package at Chickasaw Farms, located at 609 W. Main St. in Davis, Oklahoma from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday, except for federal holidays. We are also open on select Saturdays. Dates will be listed on our website.

Are you open all year?
No, we are typically open from mid-April through October. (Opening dates vary.)

Is there any assistance with planting the products?
No, the homeowner is responsible for the planting and care of the products.

What kind of sod is available?
We have U-3 Bermuda and some U-3/Tif mix, a hearty and drought resistant grass.

Will the sod grow in shade?
No, it will need approximately 65-70% sunlight.

How is the sod packaged?
We have rolls of sod on tubes and slabs of sod on pallets.

How much sod can I get?
You have two options. If we install the sod, you will receive 8,400 squares feet, or you can pick up your sod and you will receive 10,000 square feet. This is a cumulative amount and does not have to be picked up all at once or even in the same year. Homeowners are only eligible for one option.

How much does the sod weigh?
The full allotment of sod can weigh up to 40,000 pounds. The rolls weigh approximately 1,200 to 1,500 pounds each. Pallets weigh 1,500 to 2,000 pounds.

What size are the rolls/pallets?
The rolls are 42 inches wide and 100 feet long, covering a total of 350 square feet/roll. The pallets are 18-by-24-inch slabs, one pallet covers a total of 400 square feet.

How do I order sod?
Sod orders are taken every Monday starting early May through October. If a holiday falls on a Monday, orders will be taken on Tuesday. You can place your order by calling our office at (580) 369-4202. Sod orders are taken on a first call, first-served basis as we are limited on the number of pallets we can cut per week. Pickup is on the Friday of the week your order was placed.

What do I need to do to prepare for the sod?
We recommend tilling the area that will be sodded. This will allow the sod to establish easier. Also, make sure you have a way to water the sod.

How much sod can I get on a 16-foot flatbed?
The amount of sod will vary depending on the weight rating and condition of the trailer. Most 16-foot flatbed trailers have two 3,500-pound axels and are rated for 7,000 pounds. It is best to check the rating for your trailer specifically.

When do I need to install my sod?
As soon as possible. It is very perishable.

When should I start watering my sod?
As soon as you get it installed. Keep it saturated for the first two weeks, then once or twice a week for the remainder of the growing season.

When can I mow my sod?
When it gets around 4 inches tall.

How often do I need to fertilize my sod?
Preferably twice a year; spring and fall.

No, we are not set up as a business, only a service to Chickasaw homeowners.
