Eligibility

Notification of death must be received by the Chickasaw Nation Social Services Division within six months following the death.

  • Must be a member of a federally recognized tribe
  • A family member of the deceased must apply within six months of date of death
You Provide
  • CDIB, citizenship card or tribal letter
  • Statement of itemized expenses from funeral home
  • Death certificate
  • Proof of residency
  • Social Security card
  • Verification of income, if needed

Program Details

The Tribal Burial Assistance Program
Applicants may be eligible for up to $5,000 toward the final balance of a Chickasaw citizen’s required burial expenses. This grant is available to citizens who reside within or outside of the Chickasaw Nation. Payment will be made directly to the funeral home. The program cannot reimburse families.

Federal Burial Programs
Income-eligible First American citizens residing within the Chickasaw Nation may be eligible for up to $2,500 toward their required burial expenses. Payment will be made directly to the funeral home. The programs cannot reimburse families.
