Yaakni’ Inaalhpisaat Chokma “The Nation’s Laws are Good” Judicial Camp

2020 Camps, Clinics and Academies Canceled

In this time of an unprecedented health crisis, we are continuing to monitor the spread and effects of the coronavirus. The health and safety of Chickasaws, employees and our community is always our top priority. As this virus has spread to communities across Oklahoma, we are working diligently to make our facilities safe for all. The best way to limit exposure and contain the spread of COVID-19 is to avoid situations where people are gathered and for all to remain safe at home.

To continue to protect our youth, families and staff, all 2020 Chickasaw Nation camps, clinics and academies have been canceled.

Our executive department is continuously monitoring this unprecedented situation. Programs and services will be modified also as needed to safely serve our citizens. Visit Chickasaw.net/COVID19 for the most current information regarding closings, cancellations and program changes.

This two-day camp educates youth on the operations of a tribal court system. Students have the opportunity to meet tribal judges, supreme court justices, Chickasaw Lighthorse police officers, Peacemakers and court staff. Students will visit the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training facility, and participate in mock trials.

Mock trial participants will work with experienced speakers and lawyers to learn the structure and process differences of tribal court systems. Students will be directly exposed to the basics in certain substantive areas of Chickasaw tribal law.
