ALLEN, Okla. – April is National Autism Awareness month and to help shine a positive light on the subject a walk for autism awareness is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 29, at the Mustang Trails Track, 300 N. Easton.

According to Autism Speaks, autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S.

It is essential for individuals to better understand autism and what to do if they think their child or someone they know may be autistic.

Sponsored by the Allen Historical Society, the walk will feature educational and mental health awareness booths. A balloon release, face painting and other activities are planned.

The event is open to the public at no charge.
