Ada, Okla. — Kayla Wood, Tishomingo, took the oath of office for Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Legislative District Seat 1 Monday, Aug. 31, at the Chickasaw Nation Legislative Building.
Wood was elected during a special election Aug. 25 to fill an unexpired term of the office, which ends Oct. 1, 2027. The vacancy was created when former incumbent legislator Scott Wood was sworn in as Chickasaw Nation Lt. Governor.
Chickasaw Nation Supreme Court Chief Justice Cheri Bellefeuille-Gordon administered the oath of office.
The Chickasaw Nation Legislature is comprised of 13 members elected from the Chickasaw Nation’s four legislative districts: Panola, Pickens, Pontotoc and Tishomingo.
