Yearly flu vaccinations help protect individuals from influenza. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu.
Some people are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, including infants, children, elders and people with certain chronic health issues, such as asthma, COPD, heart disease and diabetes. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are also encouraged to get vaccinated.
High dose vaccines will be available for elders 65 years and older, which assists the senior to develop a more robust immune response.
