ADA, Okla. -- The Chickasaw Nation will offer three opportunities to receive flu vaccinations to the public at no cost in south central Oklahoma this fall.

Flu clinic times and locations will include:

  • Saturday, Oct. 7, in Tishomingo during the Chickasaw Nation Annual Meeting and Festival. Shots will be administered after Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby’s State of the Nation until 5 p.m. from the Inchokma “Feel Well/Be Well” Medical Mobile Unit, found on the Chickasaw National Capitol grounds, 411 W. Ninth St.
  • 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Chickasaw Nation Purcell Health Clinic, 1438 Hardcastle Blvd.
  • 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6, at the Chickasaw Nation Ardmore Health Clinic, 2510 Chickasaw Dr.

Shots are available to anyone age six months and up. Prior to receiving the vaccination, community members will fill out a flu consent form.

Yearly flu vaccinations help protect individuals from influenza. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu.

Some people are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, including infants, children, elders and people with certain chronic health issues. Being vaccinated better protects not only the individual, but also everyone around them.
