ADA, Okla. – The Chickasaw Nation will host an e-publishing workshop 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the Carl Albert Service Center, 1001 N. Country Club Road.

The workshop, taught by author Sarah Elisabeth Sawyer, will cover topics including the impact of e-books on the publishing market, e-publishing processes, marketing to a specific audience and tips and resources for navigating the publishing industry.

Sawyer, a Choctaw citizen, is an award-winning author, speaker and Choctaw storyteller of traditional and fictional tales. The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian has honored her through the Artist Leadership Program for her work in preserving stories from the Trail of Tears.

In 2015, First Peoples Fund awarded Sawyer an Artist in Business Leadership Fellowship. Her published works include “The Choctaw Tribune Series,” “Third Side of a Coin,” “Touch My Tears” and “Touch My Tears: Tushpa’s Story.”

This workshop is open to the public at no charge. Lunch will be provided. Registration opens at 8:30 in the front lobby of the Carl Albert Service Center. Limited seating available.
