TISHOMINGO, Okla. -- The Chickasaw Nation will host a Walk for Life event followed by an outdoor family movie showing Friday, June 23, at the Chickasaw National Capitol grounds, 411 W. Ninth St.

The walk will begin at 6 p.m. and the movie--open to the public at no charge--will begin at sundown, approximately 8:30 p.m.

Walk for Life intends  to create general awareness of suicide prevention. The June 23 walk will have participants make their way around the capitol grounds. Attendees will also have an opportunity to share their stories involving suicide and suicide prevention.

After the walk, complimentary popcorn, soft drinks and water will be served during the screening of the 2016 animated movie, “Sing.” In the film, animals perform in a singing competition in a bid to save a theater. Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Seth MacFarlane are among the stars who voiced the musically-inclined cast of wildlife. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
