OKLAHOMA CITY – The Chickasaw Nation earned nine awards at the 52nd Annual Oklahoma American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) ceremony Feb. 24 in Bricktown.

Three golds, three silvers and three bronze medals were awarded to the Chickasaw Nation in head-to-head competition with premiere advertising, marketing and publication agencies statewide.

The Chickasaw Nation won gold “ADDYs” – first place – for the 2018 Chickasaw Press Catalog and for magazine design for the fall 2017 edition of “Chokma” magazine. The Chickasaw Nation Department of Commerce was awarded an ADDY for creating the Trace Fiber Network logo.

The cover design of “Piominko: Chickasaw Leader,” a Chickasaw Press book published in 2017 concerning the Chickasaw leader who forged critical diplomatic relationships in the 1700s with the fledgling United States, claimed a silver medal. The commerce department won silvers for Trace Fiber Network stationary and for creation of the Chickasaw Nation Destination logo, which promotes tourism throughout the 13-counties known as Chickasaw Country.

Another Chickasaw Press book, “Good Night, Trilobite” won bronze for book design as did the mobile phone app “C is for Chickasaw,” an award-winning book aimed at introducing children to the Chickasaw language. The Chickasaw Nation also won a bronze medal for public service for the 2016 Chickasaw Nation Progress Report.

Gold ADDYs automatically qualify for district competition. More than 40,000 advertising entries are submitted each year to clubs nationally.

The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. It is the first phase in a three-tier competition. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the American Advertising Awards national competition.
