ARDMORE, Okla. – The Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center, 1001 Cottonwood St., has spots available for children, ages 6 weeks to 4 years old.

The center provides care and early education designed to strengthen social skills and develop cognitive skills.

Children participate in health and wellness activities and receive developmental assessments to help staff meet child-specific goals. A language specialist is on staff teaching the Chickasaw language, Spanish and sign language. Dance, martial arts and gymnastic classes are also incorporated into the child development center education plan.

Hallways depict a town, a zoo, the mountains and a farm, while rooms are modeled after a movie theater, general store, gift shop, ice cream parlor, fire station, clothing store and other familiar buildings.

Included in the layout are three learning wings linked by a semi-circular hub, 17 classrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas, a gymnasium, a commercial style kitchen, library, media center, exercise areas and more.

The center offers year-round child care, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The center is open to Chickasaw citizens, Native Americans and Chickasaw Nation employees. Enrollment preference will be given to Chickasaw citizens. Child care rates vary based on child’s age and Chickasaw citizenship.
