SULPHUR, Okla. – Join the Chickasaw Cultural Center and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area in celebrating the American bald eagle during a bald eagle watch Saturday, Jan. 27.

The eagle watch will begin at 9 a.m. with a ranger presentation about eagles at the Travertine Nature Center at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, 1504 Perimeter Road. From there, participants are invited to meet at the Lake of the Arbuckles to observe eagles in their natural habitat.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring binoculars if possible. Spotting scopes will be provided by park staff at designated eagle "hot spot" locations.

The documentary “American Eagle” will be shown at 1 p.m. in the Anoli’ Theater at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Cooper Memorial Drive.

The cultural center will also host a pine cone and bird seed make and take activity. There will be discounts in the Aaimpa’ CafĂ© and retail gift shops.

The eagle watch is open to the public at no charge.
