ARDMORE, Okla. – The Chickasaw Nation will host a wire wrapped jewelry class taught by renowned artist Fernando Padilla, Jr. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, at the Goddard Center, 401 First Ave. SW.

Padilla, San Felipe Pueblo/Navajo, will teach methods for making wire wrapped jewelry utilizing copper wire and stone.

Designs and creations with metals such as copper, sterling silver and gold wires are the foundations upon which the artist captures stones, gemstones and various other objects.

Since 1987, Fernando has consistently produced award winning artworks that have captivated admirers and collectors. He has established himself as a nationally renowned artist by winning awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market, Red Earth Festival and many other shows and exhibitions.

Padilla has mastered several mediums including painting, sculpting, wood carving, photography, jewelry and stained glass art. He currently lives in Oklahoma.

The class costs $70 per day. All tools and supplies will be provided.
