The Chickasaw Nation Anolí Creative Writing Contest is accepting applications until Feb. 27.

The annual writing contest is open to Chickasaw students in grades six through 12, split into two categories of grades six to eight and nine to 12.

In addition to Chickasaw students, the Anolí Creative Writing Contest is open to adult Chickasaw citizens. Adult categories are 18-24 as well as 25 and up.

All works submitted must be original and are evaluated by a panel of judges based on artistic form, creativity, how well the work relates to the topic and literary expression within each age division. Winners receive cash prizes and medals.

All entries should reflect the contest topic: “Chickasaws: Moments that shape us.”

Contest writing categories include poetry, short story and essay writing. Up to three entries total may be submitted in one or any combination of these categories. Chickasaw citizenship will be verified.

Online submissions are preferred, but email, traditional mail and hand-delivered submissions are possible.

Winners will be announced in March.
