September is National Recovery Month

Date: September 02, 2025

Every meaningful journey starts somewhere.

During National Recovery Month, the Chickasaw Nation celebrates friends and loved ones taking their first step toward substance misuse recovery and continues to support those still carving their path.

The Chickasaw Nation offers many resources for individuals seeking help to overcome substance dependency and misuse.

Recovery and restoration services provides a range of care options, including individual or group therapy, peer support groups, transportation services, client advocacy, cultural enhancement and educational resources. A navigator can also assist program participants with post-recovery skills like budgeting, healthy living, medical stability and employment.

Residential services also provide specialized care to individuals in a community-oriented environment.

Nittak Himitta' (A New Day) is a residential substance use treatment program serving First American women and their children up to age 12. Hina' Chokma' (Good Road) provides First American men and their families a healthy living situation and integrated substance use treatment options.

Both programs are culturally guided, trauma-informed and offer supports like individual, group or family therapy, relapse prevention education, domestic violence prevention services and more. Each participant receives an individual assessment and personalized treatment plan.

Recovery is possible for everyone. For more information about these programs and other mental health resources, visit Chickasaw.net/MentalWellness.
