Students can now compete online in popular video games with teams across the country on the Chickasaw Nation STEM Academy Esports team. The esports program is a new competitive, organized gaming league designed for grades seven-12, engaging students in a virtual world of skill and strategy.
Students also practice skills related to coding, character modeling, content creation, web development, marketing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), problem-solving and management through a variety of popular team-focused games. These skills ignite an interest in several STEM-related career paths and promote a team-building mindset among participants.
Chickasaw preference will be given in the application process. Students must provide gaming equipment and any digital subscriptions necessary for gameplay.
All practices and competitions are virtual, allowing for at-large participation.
Application periods vary based on competition seasons, so apply now to secure your child’s spot on this year’s roster. Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
STEM esports staff will contact selected applicants regarding practices, competition schedules and additional guidelines.
