Adult Chickasaw citizens can explore their history with the 2024 Chickasaw Archaeological Survey Program. From Feb. 23 through March 1, participants will spend the week in Tupelo, Mississippi – the Chickasaw Homeland – learning about the rich history of the Chickasaw Nation through excavation, metal detecting and pedestrian survey, artifact identification and preservation of archaeological remains.
This opportunity includes travel expenses, lodging, and meals. Archaeological experience is not required, but applicants must be physically able to work in hot or cold environments and perform tasks such as kneeling, digging and carrying loads of up to 30 pounds. Do not miss this opportunity to take part in identifying and protecting Chickasaw history and heritage.
