  • The Chickasaw Nation is accepting applications for the Chickasaw School of Piano through Friday, Aug. 10. Classes will begin in September and run through December.

ADA, Okla. – Applications are now being accepted for the Chickasaw School of Piano taught by accomplished pianist Claire Marquardt.

The art and music facility, 816 Arlington Center, will offer classes broken down by age groups. Classes will take place on Wednesday evenings starting in September through December 2018.

Level one is for children in pre-K through first grade. Level two is for children in second through sixth grade. Level three is for children in seventh through 12th grade. Level four is for adults of all ages.

Marquardt, from Poteau, Oklahoma, has been surrounded by music since the age of four when she began playing piano. She graduated from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science in music, then went on to receive her master’s degree for music in piano performance at the University of Oklahoma.

Marquardt teaches piano for the Chickasaw Nation School of Piano and is an accompanist for the Ada Junior High and High School choirs. She is currently in the process of finishing her master’s degree for music in collaborative piano at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Enrollment for the school of piano is open to the public. The deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 10.
