  • Knowledge of basic leather tooling is essential in creating the intricate patterns found on leather pieces. Stamps, mallets and carving knives are used to decorate and turn common leather objects into one of a kind works of art.

The Chickasaw Nation will host basic leather tooling classes, Thursday, Nov. 15 and 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Goddard Center in Ardmore.

Students will learn to use standard tools and techniques used in leather crafting, a hobby many continue throughout their life. Upon completion of the course, participants will have the skills to create and decorate a belt or billfold.

Class cost is $85 for materials. Material fees are waived for Chickasaw citizens.
