Foster Grandparents Program

The Foster Grandparents Program was created by the Corporation for National and Community Service and established in the Chickasaw Nation in 2015.

Foster Grandparents in the Chickasaw Nation Program serve as mentors, offering guidance, support and education to youth in the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Centers, Head Starts and area public schools.

Activities include providing one-on-one attention to children, helping them learn about Chickasaw language and culture, literacy development and math and science tutoring all designed to support school readiness and academic success for youth.


  • Age 55 or older
  • Reside in the Chickasaw Nation 13-county service area
  • Modest income

Other Information

Established in 1993, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is a federal agency that engages more than 5 million Americans in service through its core programs Senior Corps, AmeriCorps and the Social Innovation Fund and leads President Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
