AmeriCorps Program

The AmeriCorps Program was created by the Corporation for National and Community Service and established in the Chickasaw Nation in 2018.

The AmeriCorps members in the Chickasaw Nation provide lifesaving disaster preparedness trainings to citizens, elders, veterans and families in the Chickasaw Nation boundaries.

Members must be able to work 17 to 40 hours per week and willing to serve in the focus area of disaster relief services.

Eligibility

  • Age 17 or older
  • High school diploma, GED or HSE or in the process of receiving a GED, HSE or high school diploma
  • Must submit to and clear background check from U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Registry, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminal history check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Must be a citizen of the United States

Other Information

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs like increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters and more.
