Press Release

Release Date: May 08, 2017

by Chickasaw Nation Media Relations Office

The Chickasaw Nation, in association with the Ada Shakespeare Company, will bring Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” to life May 11-13, at the Black Box Theatre, located in the Arts & Humanities building, 201. N. Broadway Avenue, Ada, Oklahoma.

First performed in 1895, the comical play tells the story of characters who imaginatively produce stories to escape burdensome social obligations. Soon, their tall-tales of ‘Earnest’ catch up with them in a classic case of misdirection and misunderstanding, resulting in an unintended love-triangle and a shocking revelation.

The play directed by Kimberly Wren, a copywriter for the Chickasaw Nation and a board member for the Ada Shakespeare Company, will be the first show produced in partnership between the two entities.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5. Show times are 7 p.m., May 11 and 12, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 13.
