The Chickasaw Nation will host two art exhibit receptions, Saturday, March 18.

A reception for Chickasaw artist Daniel Worcester and Cherokee artist Tom Farris will begin 1 p.m. at the ARTesian Gallery & Studios, 100 W. Muskogee St. Sulphur, Oklahoma.

A reception for contemporary Caddo artists Yonavea Hawkins, Wayne “Taysha” Earles, Chase “Kahwinhut” Earles and Chad “Nish” Earles will be 4 p.m. at the Chokma’si Gallery in the Arts & Humanities building, 201. N. Broadway Avenue, Ada, Oklahoma.

The ARTesian Gallery & Studios exhibit featuring works of art by Chickasaw artist Daniel Worcester and Cherokee artist Tom Farris will be on display until April 7.

Daniel Worcester is an accomplished blade smith, working with a variety of distinct objects to create his pieces. The handles of his knives have included silver utensils, dominoes and billiard balls.

Tom Farris creates uniquely original paintings that reflect his Cherokee heritage with a modern twist on traditional art styles. He is known for his “'(Su)per Man'” painting that features a Native American man as “Superman.”

The Chokma’si Gallery exhibit featuring contemporary Caddo artwork by Yonavea Hawkins, Wayne “Taysha” Earles, Chase “Kahwinhut” Earles and Chad “Nish” Earles will be on display until April 7.

Yonavea Hawkins draws and paints while specializing in beadwork. Hawkins creates everything from beaded belts and bracelets to moccasins with colorful beadwork.

The Earles family has art in their blood with father, Wayne Earles and sons, Chase and Chad Earles, having their artwork featured. Wayne crafts pieces of art through stonework using Caddo designs throughout his pieces of pottery, shell and other objects.

Similar to his father, Chase works with pottery utilizing many of his Native roots to create unique pieces that resemble Caddo artwork and traditions but with a modernized approach.

Chad utilizes many different mediums of visual art including drawing, painting, screen-printing. He works with contemporary and abstract designs that are seen in many of his pieces.
