The application deadline for the 2017 Chickasaw Nation Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, is Friday, July 7.

Hosted by the Chickasaw Nation during the Annual Meeting and Festival, the competition and art market will be Oct. 6-7 on the tribe’s historic capitol grounds.

Adults and youth from any Southeastern and Woodland tribe are encouraged to enter the juried competition.

The youth artist competition is open to students of public, private or home school setting. Student must be ages 14-17 by Sept. 1.

Winners will be announced at the Arts & Culture Awards ceremony Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Cooper Memorial Road, Sulphur, Oklahoma.

Artists may enter up to two works per category with no greater than four entries.

Adult categories include:

  • Two Dimensional Art Division (paintings, drawings, photography and graphics)
  • Three Dimensional Art Division {sculpture, jewelry (metal and stone), jewelry (beaded) pottery textiles, contemporary fashion}
  • Cultural Art Division (baskets, beadwork/quillwork, flutes, traditional dress, drums, weaponry and adornment regalia)
  • Miniature Art for Adults

Youth categories are:

  • Two Dimensional Art Division (paintings, drawings, photography and graphics)
  • Three Dimensional Art Division (sculpture, jewelry, pottery, textiles)
  • Cultural Art Division (baskets, beadwork/quillwork, flutes, traditional dress, drums, weaponry and adornment regalia)
