The Chickasaw Nation Recruitment and Retention Program is celebrating with an open house 10 a.m. – noon, Monday, Jan. 29, on the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) campus.

The new, dedicated space in the Nigh University Center, room 115, will host Chickasaw students attending UCO and signals the strong partnership between the university and the Chickasaw Nation.

UCO President Don Betz will speak at the event.

The recruitment and retention space on campus will provide an office for the on-campus coordinator, a space for students to meet, study, come for advisement and participate in social and cultural activities.

The recruitment and retention program assists Chickasaw students on the campuses of UCO, University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Community College.

On-campus coordinators help students stay focused, find funding opportunities, create good academic habits, identify tribal and campus resources and build a strong cultural identity.
