CHICAGO – Two Chickasaw composers will be interviewed live on National Public Radio (NPR) 6:30 p.m. Thursday concerning an upcoming performance of their works by “Crossing Borders,” an internationally acclaimed music quartet.

Composers Katie Barrick and Cruise Berry will be joined by Crossing Borders cellist Tom Clowes. A performance Sunday in Chicago will feature Barrick’s composition “Not for The Faint of Heart” and Berry’s compositions “Fantasia” in addition to his “String Quartet #3, Donne XIV.”

The interview will be live-streamed on WHPK Radio at http://www.whpk.org/stream/.

Barrick and Berry are professional musicians who credit their careers to the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy.

Both studied music composition with Chickasaw classical music composer Jerod Tate at the academy.

Barrick, a classical violinist, is education coordinator for the Oklahoma Philharmonic and Oklahoma City Orchestra League.

Berry, a classical pianist and composer, is affiliated with Fresh Paint Performance Lab, a nonprofit organization promoting music, opera and dance in Oklahoma City.
