THACKERVILLE, Oka. – The Chickasaw Nation will host the 2018 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference, April 19-20 at the WinStar Convention Center. The conference will be live streamed at www.chickasaw.net/DynamicWomen.

The conference salutes the valuable contributions, skills, and talents of dynamic Chickasaw women through panel discussions, sessions and lessons on topics related to the Chickasaw experience and the panelists’ personal endeavors.

The conference will begin at 9 a.m., Thursday, April 19, and the live webcast will be accessible using any computer or mobile device.

The first event titled “Next Generation Panel” will feature young adults who are finding success in their ventures.

The 2017 Dynamic Woman of the Year, Brenda Kingery, will present her keynote address beginning at 12:15 p.m. A variety of breakout sessions will follow in the afternoon.

Known for her contemporary artwork, Ms. Kingery’s paintings visually tell stories about her life, travels, and Chickasaw heritage.

Ms. Kingery earned her master’s degree in fine arts and art history from the University of Oklahoma. She continued postgraduate studies in fine arts from Ryukyuus Daigaku University in Okinawa, Japan and graduate studies in Chinese language at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

She returned to Oklahoma to teach painting and drawing, later teaching art history for San Antonio College. In 2007, former President George W. Bush appointed her to the board of trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Native Alaskans in Art and Culture in Santé Fe, New Mexico.

Ending the first day of the conference will be a session titled “Connecting Through Communication: The Power of Networking in your Everyday Life.”

Friday, April 20, events include a “Family Matters Panel” at 9 a.m. Miss Oklahoma Triana Browne will speak beginning at 11:55 a.m.

A Chickasaw citizen, Ms. Browne’s platform, Bridging the Great Cultural Divide, focuses on the importance of nurturing cultural compassion by motivating, empowering and educating children and young adults about other cultures, starting conversations and challenging intolerance respectfully.

The event will close with a session by leadership coaches Dr. Scout Cloud Lee and Dr. Jan Summers titled “Mission Possible: I Can and I Will” at 2:15 p.m.

Established in 2006, the Dynamic Woman of the Year Award honors Chickasaw women who have made significant contributions to the Nation, serve as role-models to other Chickasaw women and who have made a difference in the lives of Chickasaws and other citizens, enriching their communities and society at large.
