“Caffeine Smile,” music for string quartet written by Chickasaw Katie Barrick, will air Friday on classical music radio program “Performance Today.”

The Spokane (Washington) String Quartet performed the tune in concert April 30. The quartet featured works by four Chickasaws; all former Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy students.

“Performance Today” will air 10 a.m. Friday. Regional radio stations KOCU 90.1 in Altus; KLCU 90.3 in Ardmore; KYCU 89.1 in Clinton and KWTU 88.7 in Tulsa air “Performance Today.”

The broadcast will be live-streamed at www.yourclassical.org/programs/performance-today and may be enjoyed for 30 days at that website.

Ms. Barrick was a teenager when she composed the piece working with Emmy Award-winning Chickasaw classical music composer Jerod Tate.

Today, she is a classical violinist and serves as education coordinator for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Oklahoma City Orchestra League.
