Preserve Chickasaw Culture Through the Inkana Foundation

The Chickasaw Inkana Foundation (CIF) is a nonprofit organization established in 2014 in the heart of the Chickasaw Homeland, Tupelo, Mississippi.

The Inkana Foundation works to foster enduring partnerships with governments, local civic and educational organizations and institutions to encourage the preservation and protection of Chickasaw heritage sites, and accurately interpret Chickasaw history and culture in the region from Chickasaw perspective.

The Inkana Foundation seeks to cultivate an understanding of the cultural importance of Chickasaw heritage across the historic Homeland in order to help encourage preservation and protection of remaining cultural sites, as well as educating Chickasaw citizens and the public.

The foundation, in partnership with the Chickasaw Nation, hosts annual celebrations of Chickasaw history and culture throughout the historic Homeland, and also acquires and preserves endangered cultural and sacred sites important to the Chickasaw people.

To preserve, protect and interpret the culture and history of the Chickasaw people in the historic Chickasaw Homeland.

Preserve

The Inkana Foundation seeks to preserve Chickasaw Nation historic sites, artifacts and cultural reminders of Indigenous people in the Chickasaw Homeland.

Protect

Chickasaw cultural resources in the historic Homeland are non-renewable. Protecting what remains is a primary objective of the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation.

Interpret

Since 2016, the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation, Chickasaw Nation and other local partners have worked together on a variety of interpretative and educational programing, to achieve a multi-generational commitment to the preservation and protection of Chickasaw history and culture in the Homeland.
