The program''s mission is to promote disease prevention and health education within the Native American population. The CHRs were the initial outreach workers of the tribe. They serve as a liaison between Native American families and the resources of the Chickasaw Nation and the community. They build trusting relationships with Chickasaws and other Native Americans who reside within the tribal service area. They provide medically guided primary health-care services in areas of need, where no other resources are available.
