The Chickasaw Nation Division of Youth and Family Services, through its Office of Strong Family Development, is currently offering programs addressing fatherhood, single parent support, PREP and divorce recovery.
The fatherhood/accountability men's group utilizes education, accountability to peers and group support to assist fathers in becoming strong leaders and providers for their families. Focus of the group is on the development of skills and behavioral practices necessary to positively impact and influence family function. Group members do not divulge intimate family details, as is required in most traditional group settings, thus allowing their dignity and privacy to remain intact. Focus is instead placed on each member developing skills and actual behavioral techniques that can be utilized to strengthen his family without relying on outside assistance, which is more consistent with our Native American culture. Group Members will share their wisdom, support and encouragement while holding each other accountable to fulfill their family obligations.
