Program Details

Chickasaw Stickball provides an opportunity for cultural enrichment. Stickball promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, while revitalizing the game throughout the Chickasaw Nation.

Chickasaw Stickball is made up of two teams Chikasha Bak Bak and Chikasha Toli. Bak Bak is the youth stickball team, consisting of players ages 8-17. Toli is the adult team, but 14- to 17-year-olds can play on Toli with parental consent. An application and waiver are required for all team members.

Stickball games are played throughout the Chickasaw Nation and some are played outside of Chickasaw Nation boundaries. The games are mostly played on a field similar to the size of a football field. The adult team plays coed and men-only games. All games are a two-pole, east/west games.

The youth play coed style games with rules that involve no tackling. They also have a shooting circle and lines dividing up offense, defense and center positions.

Toli plays with fewer rules and their games are more physical.

Chikasha Bak Bak is designed to be a starting point for youth stickball players. This is where they will develop the necessary skills to transition to Chikasha Toli once they age out of the youth team.
