ADA – An expert on the Cobell settlement class-action lawsuit will be on hand to assist Chickasaws and other Native Americans who wish to file a claim in the landmark $3.4 billion settlement between Native Americans and the U.S. government.

The expert will attend clinics Sept. 15 in Tishomingo and the Ada clinic, Sept. 22.

Final deadline for Native Americans to submit documentation in the case is Nov. 27, 2017.

The Chickasaw Nation and the Oklahoma Indian Legal Services, Inc. (OILS), are hosting the remaining clinics which begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. The Tishomingo clinic will be at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, 818 E. 6th Street, Sept. 15.

The Ada clinic will be at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, 700 Mississippi Ave., Sept. 22

Officials ask citizens to bring any paperwork that might help in filing a claim. That includes such items as birth/death certificates, probate orders, genealogy and ancestry information.
